Nine Banded Cocktails

NBW Basil Julep-3

Orange Basil Julep


2 oz. Nine Banded Wheated Bourbon
1 oz. Freshly squeezed orange juice (about 1/2 orange)
1 oz. Orange-basil simple syrup
Crushed ice
Orange and basil for garnish


Fill rocks glass (or julep cup) with crushed ice
In cocktail shaker with ice, add bourbon, syrup and 3-4 basil leaves
Shake until shaker gets frosty
Strain into glass or cup
Garnish with orange wheel and basil


1/2 C. Turbinado sugar
1/2 C. Water
Handful of basil leaves
Zest from one orange
Combine the syrup ingredients in small saucepan and bring to boil, stir to dissolve sugar
Remove from heat and let cool, then strain into container
Store in refrigerator to keep fresh
